Applesauce

My cousin Jen and I continued our annual tradition of making applesauce at my grandma's house.  This is our third or fourth year in a row doing it and I look forward to it every fall!  We could easily make the applesauce on our own or at one of our houses, but we cherish times like these with grandma and enjoy chatting the day away as we core and cook apples.

Hudson came down with croup and got much worse as the day went on.  Bad enough that I felt like I needed to get him back home and to the pediatrician because he was wheezing and I knew it would get worse at bedtime.  He was still having trouble riding in the car seat and because the wheezing was worse when he was crying, I asked my mom in a moment of panic to ride back to Columbus with me so I could ride in the back with my babe.  She graciously jumped in the car with me and off to Columbus we went.  Thankfully his lungs sounded good and a steroid drink later we were on our way home.  After a quick dinner, Ben took my mom back home.  My sister met us part way so Ben didn't have to drive the whole way - thanks Riss!  THANK YOU mom for putting my mind at ease and being willing to change your plans to come with me.  Sometimes the 2 hour drive home seems far, but we made it seem like nothing that day ;)

  1. I wish my grandma was still around to help cut apples! She and my grandpa would share a bowl between their knees and help all the families with the applesauce. Such good memories for all of you!
