After a busy month getting the house ready to put on the
market and moving a truck load of things out of the house, we officially listed
it on May 1 as we were heading out of town to visit Ben’s family. What a bittersweet day! We envisioned having lots of showings
the 5 days we were gone and couldn’t wait to get feedback on the house. Boy did we have unrealistic
expectations! We didn’t have a
single showing while we were gone.
Things picked up about a week later and stayed pretty steady after
that. We had 4-5 showings a week
and keeping the house in “perfect” condition was exhausting. I had four little hands that loved to
leave their mark on just about everything! :)
On May 21, three weeks after putting it on the market, we
got an offer we couldn’t pass up and were officially in contract. The buyers were relocating and wanted
possession in just over 3 weeks.
Those weeks were a blur! It
felt like the packing was never going to end, but with the help of so many of
our friends and family, we loaded up the truck and moved all of our stuff up to
the new house in under 3 weeks. We moved a week earlier than we needed to
because my family was going to be on vacation the following week. We unloaded at the new house and
headed back to Columbus for another week because Ben had to work and we had
lots of plans to see friends. It
was an interesting week sleeping on air mattresses, eating off of paper plates,
and having zero furniture in the house! Friday we packed up the last of our things and drove
away to our new home. I had mixed
emotions and I don’t think it really hit me that day that we were never going
to come back to that house. It was
such a good first home and we made SO many great memories while living
there. It’s sad to me that neither
of our boys will likely have any memory of it!
Ben loved our late nights of packing after the boys were in bed!
We found lots of treasures :)
Stuck in the moving truck while it poured down rain
Off we go!
Pulling into the new house
Back to the empty house for another few days
Fine dining :)
When your house is empty, you go get an oil change so they can supply your kids breakfast :)
Last days playing on our patio - favorite part of the house!
And we got our fill of the park behind our house
Hugging the house goodbye :)
Major traffic jam on the way up north - Beverly Hillbilly style :)
We made it to the new house after dinner time and quickly worked to set up the beds so we could get some rest. A huge thanks to Whitney, Jenna and Jen for painting our bedrooms so they were ready to move right into! The boys had fun playing and Carson was excited to sleep in his new room.
We are slowly but surely getting settled. Some days it feels like we will never get there but one day at a time :)
The view out of our front window - I love it and am thankful to be here even on the days when I am really missing friends and things about Columbus. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways during this whole process. We were humbled by your acts of kindness. We are so excited to be on this new adventure!
