Birthday Festivities

We celebrated Carson's first birthday on a Sunday afternoon with family and friends.  Poor Carson was running a low grade fever and not feeling well, we think because of teething, but he was a trooper.

The kids loved the ice bucket - Carson is shirtless because it was completely soaked from ice.  It was currently in the dryer :)

We were set up to eat outside - about three bites into eating it started thundering and lightening not too far off.  We quick brought the cake out and then moved the party inside right as it started to rain.

He definitely didn't attack it like I thought he would, but seemed to like it :)

After we moved the party inside things got a little messier...

and ended with the cake on the floor.  

Carson was so tired and literally falling asleep standing up - not like him at all - so we put him down for a nap.  After he woke up he was sad and just not himself :(  We opened presents to try to distract him.

So snuggly - also not like him!  He went to bed early and felt a little better by morning.  Ben's parents were still here so we played outside with some of his new toys.

On Wednesday, his actual birthday, he was feeling back to normal.  We both had to work that day, but started off the day with birthday pancakes...

...and ended the day with birthday dinner.
