Colorado

We had a wonderful visit to Colorado a few weeks ago.  We decided to drive because the cost of tickets is so high - I was nervous but the kids did great.  We drove through the night both ways so that we could get a large chunk of driving done without having to stop every 2-3 hours.

The day we were leaving we had visits from two old college friends.  Emily was in town for a wedding and we spent the morning together - miss this friend so much!

Then Jordan stopped in and we went out for dinner before hitting the road.

So thankful for good car sleepers!  Filling up with gas and he didn't make a peep.

We stopped in Hesston to visit our old stomping grounds and it was the perfect timing - both boys were stirring as we pulled into town.  It was earrrrly - 5:45am so we decided to get donuts at Druber's before calling anyone to tell them we had arrived.  Carson approved :)

We spent the morning with Angie and Anne,

met Brent for lunch,

and walked around campus to reminisce.  It was strange to be walking around campus toting our two kids around!  Can't believe it's been 10 years since Ben and I first met in the same place.

1B2...where it all began :)  I poked my head in the door - still smells exactly the same!

Outside of Yost Center - good old volleyball days!  After our Hesston tour we hit the road for Colorado.

We helped with the family's CSA throughout the week - picking produce and loading crates for delivery.  It was fun to be a part of it!

We had a bridal shower for Kerry on Sunday afternoon - it was fun to be there.

Pollinating with grandpa

Ben and went out to walk/jog several mornings and there were always beautiful clear blue skies.

Driving with grandma - he got so used to being able to drive between houses.  I though he'd never want to ride in his carseat again!

This was a common sight throughout the week :)

Meeting Uncle Andrew and Aunt Kerry for lunch

Grandma arranged a school bus to come to the house and take Carson for a ride.  You should have seen his face light up! He loved it.

One evening we went out to Kerry's house and some of us went for a bike ride before dinner.  The week before they had killed 7 rattlesnakes on the same route - I was excited to see one, but we didn't!

Kerry's adorable house

We took a day trip to the sand dunes in the Rockies and started off the day with a picnic.

The dunes were beautiful.  I loved the way the clouds cast shadows on the sand.  We unfortunately got there in the afternoon and the sand was HOT.  So Carson and Hudson stayed with grandma and grandpa and played in the sand where there was shade while Ben and I ventured up to the dunes.

Sorry for all the pictures - but it was beautiful!

We were having fun so Ben ran back to get Carson for a bit.

Full irrigation ditches

If Andrew was around, Carson always wanted him to read him books and put him down for naps or bedtime.

Carson approved :)

Such a great visit!  We love you and can't wait to be back in October!
