Tear Duct

Carson had a tear duct probe done last week to open his tear duct that has been blocked since he was a few weeks old.  Here's one last picture of Carson's goopy eye - we are not going to miss this!

Waiting for the doctor - no clue what's coming!

Here is a picture of the room where the procedure was done.  They swaddled him up tight in the blue blanket and he didn't mind at all.  I started my watch when they started wrapping him in the blanket and we were out of the room in under 3 minutes.  It was so quick!  Carson was very angry when they were holding his face still but it was very fast and we all survived.  :)

Carson's eye bled for the next day or so - it looked like he was crying red tears.  The doctor said we wouldn't know for a few days if the procedure worked or not.  We were crossing our fingers!

We went to Target to fill an eye drop antibiotic prescription as a precaution against infection.  While we were walking around, I looked down and Carson's arms were broken out in hives!  I quickly called the doctor who told me not to fill the prescription.  Carson had been given a dose at the doctor's office and we wanted to make sure that wasn't what was causing the reaction.  Because the hives were only on his arms below his sleeves, on his ears and on his face where he was tugging at his pacifier, we think it was some sort of skin sensitivity to the blanket they wrapped him in.  The hives were gone in about an hour or so.  The next day, he broke out in hives two more times.  Poor guy!

The procedure was a success!  Carson's eyes are clear and for the first time in 6 months he wakes up and can open both eyes.  He looks like a different boy!  We are so thankful this is behind us.  Thanks for the prayers!
